Two little plant friends joined me after my trip to Boulder yesterday! My cactus needed some friends and I thought these succulents were the coolest. So solid and chubby.
My main purpose in Boulder was to meet with my younger brother and pick up the new Saga, and of course, I also put issues 1-3 of Multiple Warheads on hold since only the 4th was in stock. I also wanted to check out what Boulder's main library was like so I put a pile of comics on hold and ventured out of my comfort zone (I am a hermit...working from home means I don't get out to explore much, but that's something I'm trying to change this year!)
You might have noticed these new kitty faces on my header and Etsy shop banner. I needed a change for the new year so I drew cute versions of Hermes and Apollo! They're painted in gouache and outlined with micron pen.
This blog has been a bit quiet lately, but that's because of the above two pictures. My husband finished his first book and now I'm working on the cover! Progress is slow, however, because this is my first time drawing a shattering bell jar and coloring everything digitally. Slow progress can be frustrating at times, but more often than not I feel a greater sense of accomplishment when I finish a difficult drawing project. The above little locust-like dude is the reason for my locust sketches. He'll have a few more details, but he's a tiny robot that plays an important role in the plot of my husband's book. I drew him separately from the bell jar and used Photoshop to move him inside it after I scanned the images.
Expect more finished work soon! I have a few exciting painting ideas planned and I'll be in two shows this upcoming March and April!
Have a wonderful day :)
