WIPs and Things

This drawing is taking me a looooong time to finish. I had sketched out a fabulous background, I couldn't be happier with how the mama cat and her kittens turned out (black and fuzzy!), I'm reminded of how much I love using colored pencils, but when I started to focus on coloring the background, it all came crashing down. So, even though it'll take even longer to finish, I'm going to wait for some new ideas for the background to float on by before it's ruined beyond repair.

I started this painting a couple of days ago and I'm rendering with ink washes before I apply watercolor, and I'm in love with this method so far! I'm also using Stonehenge paper for the first time and I don't ever want to go back to watercolor paper. So smooth and creamy, and pigment doesn't travel with too much water! Finding paper that's effortless to work with is such a relief.

My birthday was in the beginning of May, and as a small gift for myself I painted a teeny Hellboy portrait and placed him in a hexagon necklace base :)

Apologies for the long lapse without posting! I've been making an effort to distract myself less via the internet and so far it's working! I'm planning for two craft shows in the upcoming months and working on some new painting ideas that I should be able to show you soon if all goes according to plan. I update my instagram regularly with little drawings, so follow @twoblackcats if you so desire! If you don't have a smartphone you can also follow online here :)
